Camillus, New York Amateur Radio Testing Sessions

The Camillus V.E. Group (W5YI-VEC) holds Amateur Radio exam sessions on the first Thursday of every month (see schedule below). Walk-in applicants are accepted and the site is handicapped accessible. SCHEDULE FOR 2008: June 5th July (NO SESSION) August 7th September 4th October 2nd November 6th December 4th ** Although not a requirement, we prefer that you pre-register in advance of attending an examination session. Please indicate the test session date that you plan to attend. LOCATION: West Genesee High School (west wing), 5201 West Genesee Street, room B142 in Camillus, New York (6 miles west of the city of Syracuse). For a map to the test site, click here. DIRECTIONS FROM SYRACUSE: At the intersection of West Genesee Street & Hinsdale Road, continue west on West Genesee Street to the next traffic light. At the traffic light (intersection of West Genesee Street & Vanida Drive), turn left into the Lowe's/Applebee's entrance of the Camillus Commons (south side of West Genesee Street) and proceed to the high school's west parking area (turn left from the Lowe's/Applebee's entranceway). Use the high school west entrance, which faces the parking area. TIME: 7:00 pm TEST FEE: $14.00 FOR MORE INFO: Contact Us Examinees should bring: Two (2) forms of identification (one must be a photo ID). Your FRN number or Social Security Number (see below). Original, signed Amateur Radio license (if you are already licensed). A photocopy of your original, signed Amateur Radio license (must be the same as the original you bring, either 5x7 or wallet size is acceptable). Any unexpired Certificates of Successful Completion of an Exam (CSCE) that you will be using to apply for an upgrade. A blue or black ink pen (for filling out forms). A pencil (for taking the exams). A calculator (if desired, for taking the exams - non-programmable only). Effective December 1, 2001, the FCC will not process license application forms that do not include an FCC Registration Number, or FRN. If you already hold a license, you may be able to get your FRN from one of the web-based callbooks: try the ARRL's or QRZ. You can also call the FCC directly about this at 1-800-480-3201. If you do not have an FRN, you will have to use your Social Security Number on the license application form. The fee for W5YI-VEC VE sessions is $14.00. You can take as many different test elements as you want for $14.00. But if you do not pass an element and wish to take it again at the same session, an additional $14.00 will be required. For example: if you pass the General class exam, you can try the Extra class exam at no additional charge! Go ahead, give it a shot! Even if you don't pass, you will at least get an idea of what to expect. But if you don't pass the General exam and want to take it again, you will have to pay another $14.00 test fee!
